About 20 minutes later he was smiling from ear to ear catching waves! Doyls was so down to earth and truly committed to showing us a 5-star experience. If you are in the area and need a good instructor, ask for Doyls!”

WE Teach surfing with patience, respect, and passion

Surfing is more than a sport. It’s a way to connect with the ocean, nature, and yourself.

At Estación Offshore, every surf lesson is designed to inspire confidence, respect the sea, and help you grow, both in and out of the water. Surfing helps you break fears, push limits, and reconnect with yourself.

your questions, answered

  • With a parent in the water, kids can start as young as 2, experiencing the waves together in a safe and fun way. From around 4 years old, children can begin learning on their own with one of our coaches. Every kid is different, so if you're wondering whether your child is ready, just get in touch and we'll point you in the right direction.

  • You can absolutely have a great time and enjoy surfing even if you can't swim. You'll simply be working in the gentle white-water waves, where the water stays shallow and manageable. For many people that's more than enough and offers plenty of fun on its own.

If you want to progress to larger, unbroken waves further out, you'll need to be comfortable swimming. But there's no reason that should stop you from getting started.

  • Absolutely, you can still try surfing! We understand that fear of the ocean can be challenging, and this is a very frequent question especially if you live far from the ocean.

So, we start with gradual progress and teach breathing techniques to help manage stress.

Our instructors will be mindful of your emotional state and guide you through each step. As you achieve small successes and gain more knowledge about the ocean, you'll feel empowered and gradually overcome your fear.

  • You don't need to be in any particular shape to start surfing. The first few sessions are more about technique than physical output, and the ocean has a way of working muscles you didn't know you had regardless of your starting point. Fitness becomes more relevant as you progress and start surfing longer sessions, but it's never a reason not to start.

  • Rain alone rarely cancels a session. In Nosara, a passing shower is part of the experience and the water is warm enough that most surfers don't even notice. What matters more is the condition of the ocean on the day.

If conditions are genuinely unsuitable for your level, we'll either move to a more sheltered break along the coast or reschedule your session. We monitor swell, wind, and tide closely and always have a plan B. Our priority is that you have a safe and worthwhile time in the water, and we won't send you out in conditions that work against that.

  • Less than you think. The water stays around 27°C (80°F) year round so all you really need in the water is a pair of boardshorts or a bikini. Just make sure it fits securely, the ocean has a way of testing that.

We provide surfboards, rash guards, and sunblock. If you prefer to use your own, feel free to bring them. A pair of flip flops for the walk to the beach, a surf hat on sunny days if you have one, and some water to stay hydrated. We take care of the rest.
